A year ago, if you’d have told me I was to spend three straight days drinking alcohol, not knowing what calories were in my food or not going to the gym for three consecutive days, I probably would have had a nervous breakdown.
And that’s no exaggeration. I have come exceptionally far in mindset in the past 12 months. It’s just over a year since I properly began serious weight training and I haven’t looked back since. It has allowed me to understand my body needs food, it won’t get fat after a few days off the gym, and that I won’t put on weight after one meal.
I went to a festival a couple of weeks ago and I loved every minute. I drank all the cider, ate some gorgeous food, and loved having time off from the gym just to chill out.
I lead a fairly hectic lifestyle – one where I’m out the house for the majority of the day, coming home in the evening to cook food and get ready for the next mad day. And I love it. But it was so nice to have a weekend off, to not have to cook, and to relax a little. Because my life tends to be at the other end of the scale.
But equally, it has been great to get back into things, back training at the gym and back on track with my diet. I’m looking forward to seeing some physique changes because I’m planning to absolutely smash training and nutrition for the next 6 weeks or so to see where I can get.
But at the same time, I’m not going to say no to a meal out, or to a few drinks after work. I have come this far and if the past few weeks have taught me anything, it’s that a balanced lifestyle is much more enjoyable than one of worry, stress and fear.
